Articles & Research:

New York Times Article, "Finding Health Insurance If You Are Self Employed" By MARCI ALBOHER, Published: March 27, 2008.
Great article about the reality and broad strokes of finding health insurance if you are self employed. Be aware some details of providers may have changed since the article was published. But it is a nice background piece.

Health Insurance Resource Center http://www.healthinsurance.org/resources/self-employed.lasso
A great place for background research and starting information on health insurance providers and self employment.

Ehealthinsurance.com -http://www.ehealthinsurance.com/ An insurance comparison website. It provides an "idea" of pricing and packages offered depending on your requests. You have to apply to the company itself to determine actual costs and eligibility.
